How to Add Memory to Toshiba Laptop

1. Shut down your Toshiba laptop and disconnect the AC power adapter. Remove any other cables attached to the computer. Close the LED screen.
2. Turn the Toshiba notebook over so that it is facing bottom side up. Slide the battery latch release to the "unlocked" position. Hold the latch while you slide the Toshiba laptop battery out of the laptop.
3. Locate the memory slot cover on the bottom of your Toshiba laptop. The slot cover will have either an "M" label next to it or a picture of a small memory module. Remove the retaining screw and set the slot cover aside.
4. Remove the new memory module from its anti-static bag or box. Hold the module by the edges and be careful not to touch the gold or silver contact edge of the component.
5. Align the memory module with the slot. Push the module into the slot until you can push it no more. Push the back edge of the memory module downward until it snaps into place.
6. Replace the memory slot cover. Reinsert the retaining screw and tighten with the Phillips screwdriver. Reinsert the Toshiba laptop battery pack into its bay or slot.
7. Turn the laptop back over and plug in the AC adapter. Power on the laptop and allow it to boot into Windows normally. Windows will automatically recognize and configure the additional RAM memory.
